Void Acoustics takes centre stage at Wolfkop Weekender

What began as a gathering of just 350 people in 2014 has grown into one of South Africa’s most anticipated electronic music festivals. Welcoming more than 4,000 festivalgoers in 2025, Wolfkop Weekender has built its reputation on carefully curated line-ups, immersive production and a strong sense of community, creating an experience that continues to attract audiences from across the region.

For its biggest edition to date, Wolfkop Weekender worked with Apollo AV to deploy Void Acoustics across the festival’s two main stages. With electronic music at the heart of the programme, the systems were selected to deliver the clarity, impact and consistency needed for an outdoor festival environment.

The sound behind the stages

The Forest Stage centred around Void Acoustics’ flagship Incubus system, supported by Arcline 118 subwoofers, Air Vantage loudspeakers and Bias Q5 amplification. Together, the system provided the soundscape for performances by international and local artists including Axel Boman, He/She/They, DJ Chris Cruise and Floyd Lavine.

On the River Stage, Xair subwoofers and Tri Motion loudspeakers, also driven by Bias Q5 amplification, delivered the same high standard of performance in a second performance space. The dual-stage configuration ensured consistent, high-quality sound throughout the festival, giving audiences the same listening experience wherever they chose to spend their weekend.

Built for the festival environment

Electronic music has always been central to Wolfkop Weekender, making Void Acoustics a natural fit for the festival. While renowned for its nightclub installations, the systems were adapted to meet the demands of an outdoor setting without compromising the clarity, impact and visual identity that have become synonymous with the brand.

More than 4,000 festivalgoers experienced the systems across the weekend, with both the performance and distinctive design leaving a lasting impression on artists and audiences alike.

“The deployment of Void at the Wolfkop festivals has been a game changer for the artists that play there, for me as the booker and most importantly, for the audiences wowed by the Void system’s stunning sound and gorgeous looks. The partnership with Apollo in Cape Town has led to the deployment of Void Acoustics across both our main dance floors.”

Growing together

The organisers’ relationship with Void Acoustics extends beyond Wolfkop Weekender. Apollo AV also introduced the Incubus system to South African audiences at Bazique Festival, another major event delivered in collaboration with Void Acoustics.

As Wolfkop Weekender continues to grow, Void Acoustics remains an integral part of the festival experience, helping deliver the scale, energy and consistency expected from one of South Africa’s leading electronic music festivals.
