Boomtown Fair 2026
Void Acoustics powers Boomtown’s next chapter
Since 2015, Void Acoustics has played an integral role in shaping the sound of Boomtown Fair, working alongside Boomtown’s production team and trusted partners including NSL Productions and Areal to deliver exceptional audio experiences across one of the UK’s most immersive festivals.
Set within the rolling landscape of the Matterley Estate in Hampshire, Boomtown is far more than a music festival. It’s a living, breathing world where music, theatre, art and storytelling come together across spectacular districts, each with their own atmosphere, identity and sonic character. Every stage is designed to transport audiences, making sound a vital part of the experience.
Over the past decade, Void Acoustics has evolved alongside the festival, building a partnership founded on trust, innovation and a shared ambition to push the boundaries of live production. From flagship stage deployments to site-wide installations, Void loudspeaker systems continue to power some of Boomtown’s most ambitious spaces, combining iconic design with exceptional audio performance in one of the world’s most demanding festival environments.

A stage without a front row
For Chapter Five: Radical Redesign, the challenge centred on expanding Spectrum 360 and delivering consistent, enveloping sound throughout its 55-metre-diameter arena, while carefully controlling off-site noise.
Unlike a conventional festival stage, Spectrum 360 places performers at the centre of the audience, with multiple inward-firing positions creating a 360-degree listening experience. With no single front-of-house position, every audience member needed to experience the same impact, clarity and energy wherever they stood.
As one of Boomtown’s most progressive spaces, Spectrum 360 has become known not only for its innovative in-the-round design, but also for championing diverse artists and inclusive programming. The stage’s open format reflects the festival’s commitment to creativity, self-expression and community, making exceptional sound a fundamental part of the audience experience.
Alongside the flagship installation, Void loudspeaker systems were also deployed across a series of new bar activations throughout the festival site, ensuring the same high-quality audio extended beyond the main performance spaces.

Designed for complete immersion
Working closely with NSL Productions and Areal, Void Acoustics developed an inward-firing, multi-point loudspeaker system for Spectrum 360, designed to deliver powerful, consistent coverage throughout the arena while maintaining clarity and precise control of off-site noise.
At the heart of the deployment, Arclite and Xair delivered the high-output performance required across the main audience areas, supported by Stasys 218 and Arcline 8. ArcM 12 provided monitoring, while Q5 and Q3 amplification supported the system.
Spectrum 360 also marked the UK festival debut of Void Acoustics’ new Air 12, with six deployed as DJ booth monitors. The new model was put straight to work in one of Boomtown’s most ambitious live environments, giving performers the clarity and performance required within the booth.
Extensive system prediction, alignment and tuning ensured every loudspeaker worked together as a coherent system, delivering powerful, consistent sound throughout the arena while maintaining excellent intelligibility, balanced coverage and carefully managed sound beyond the festival site.

Built for Boomtown
Boomtown’s natural bowl-shaped landscape, changing elevations and ambitious stage infrastructure make system design and deployment particularly challenging, requiring close collaboration between Void Acoustics, Boomtown Production, NSL Productions and Areal.
From demanding build schedules and complex infrastructure to routing cabling beneath sections of glass flooring, every aspect of the deployment required careful planning. The inward-firing configuration also called for meticulous alignment and delay management to ensure multiple sound sources complemented rather than competed with one another.
Through detailed system design, optimisation and on-site tuning, the installation delivered consistent coverage, high-SPL performance and reliable operation throughout the event. Void loudspeaker systems once again proved their resilience in demanding outdoor conditions, reinforcing the confidence production teams continue to place in the brand year after year.

Alex Skan, Founder, Void Acoustics“This year’s Spectrum 360 at Boomtown Festival was a major step forward from previous years. With a huge 55-metre-diameter arena, six inward-firing stages plus the main stage, it was a unique design and something we hadn’t attempted before.
The scale and layout presented several challenges, but the result was extremely successful. The sound performance was exceptional, with excellent and consistent coverage throughout the arena, while off-site noise was also very well controlled.
The response from everyone who experienced Spectrum 360 was fantastic. A huge amount of credit must go to the Boomtown production team, along with all the artists and crew associated with the arena, for their help and support in making such an ambitious project work so well.
A special thank you also goes to NSL Productions, who handled the sound engineering, system set-up and cable infrastructure throughout the arena and played an important part in delivering such a successful system.”
Shaping the future of festival sound
The expanded Spectrum 360 demonstrated how intelligent system design and carefully selected loudspeaker technology can transform audience engagement, placing audiences at the heart of the performance while balancing the technical demands of coverage, clarity, SPL and off-site noise management.
For another year, Void Acoustics helped deliver the powerful sound that has become synonymous with the Boomtown experience. The evolution of Spectrum 360, alongside the UK festival debut of the Air 12, marked another milestone in the long-standing relationship between Void and the festival.
As Boomtown continues to evolve, Void Acoustics remains proud to evolve alongside it. Together with Boomtown, NSL Productions and Areal, the partnership continues to push the boundaries of immersive festival audio, with the next chapter already on the horizon.
