Ten years of sound in the Redwoods with Void Acoustics

Celebrating its tenth anniversary, Northern Nights Music Festival returned to the redwood forests of Northern California with over 10,000 attendees enjoying a weekend of music, art and culture. Having been part of the festival since its inception, Void Acoustics once again delivered the sound systems that have become synonymous with the Northern Nights experience.

Working alongside Royal Sound & Lighting, Void Acoustics supplied its largest deployment at the festival to date, with systems installed across multiple stages and social spaces throughout the site. From intimate woodland settings to high-energy headline performances, every area required its own carefully tailored audio solution.

A bespoke system for every stage

Void Acoustics systems were deployed across the Main Stage, The Grove, The Bunker, Tribe 13 Art Gallery, Tree Lounge, Canna Craft and Farmer & The Felon, with even the crew area enjoying its own dedicated Void system.

The Main Stage featured Arcline 8 line arrays with Arcline 218 subwoofers, supported by Air Motion loudspeakers, ArcM15 stage monitors, Air Vantage monitors, Arcline 118 sub monitors and Bias Q5 amplifiers for festival-scale performance.

At The Grove, the system combined Stasys 218 subwoofers, Nexus 6 loudspeakers, Venu 210i subwoofers and Venu 10 monitors, while The Bunker paired Air Motion loudspeakers with Stasys 218 subwoofers, Airten monitors, a Venu 210i subwoofers and Venu 10 DJ monitors.

Tribe 13 Art Gallery featured Air 8 monitors, Venu 8 loudspeakers and Venu 210i subwoofers, with Tree Lounge utilising Venu 8 tops and Venu 210i subwoofers. Canna Craft and Farmer & The Felon were both equipped with Air Vantage loudspeakers and Stasys 218 subwoofers.

Festival performance

Deploying almost 100 Void Acoustics loudspeakers across the festival site presented a significant logistical challenge. Working within the remote redwood forest required careful planning, while each stage demanded its own system configuration to suit different artists, audiences and performance styles.

The result was a series of systems that delivered consistent, high-impact sound throughout the weekend. Engineers praised the clarity and performance of the Arcline line arrays, particularly their ability to maintain definition in challenging outdoor conditions.

Artists performing at Northern Nights were equally impressed, with many commenting on both the distinctive appearance of the systems and the sound quality they delivered.

Ten years of Northern Nights

Void Acoustics has supported Northern Nights since the festival’s very first edition, becoming an integral part of the event’s identity. For its tenth anniversary, the largest Void deployment in the festival’s history reinforced that long-standing partnership, delivering powerful, immersive sound across every stage.
