Jetwing Lighthouse Hotel enhances its beachfront hospitality experience with Void Acoustics
Nestled on the south-west coast of Sri Lanka in the city of Galle, Jetwing Lighthouse Hotel overlooks the Indian Ocean and offers guests a luxury beachfront setting. Seeking to offer guests enhanced entertainment opportunities, the hotel partnered with Digital Ear, regional distributor for Void Acoustics, to install a sound system suited to its beachfront environment.
The project required a solution that was visually appealing yet unobtrusive, while being capable of withstanding the demands of an outdoor coastal location. The system also needed to complement the hotel’s surroundings while delivering high-quality audio performance.
Delivered by Digital Ear
Void Acoustics was selected as the core of the system, with design and installation carried out by Digital Ear Pvt. Ltd. To meet the project’s requirements, Digital Ear specified Cyclone 8 loudspeakers, featuring a UV-resilient finish and IP-55 weather protection, making them suitable for the hotel’s beachfront location.
Indigo 6s loudspeakers with a custom colour finish were also integrated into the system, allowing them to blend into the hotel’s décor, while a Bias D1 amplifier powers the installation.
“This enabled us to seamlessly blend the speakers into the décor of the hotel, something which provides a ‘wow’ factor for our client and their guests,” explains Haren Perera, Managing Director of Digital Ear. “Moreover, the IP-55 rating of Void’s Cyclone fixtures ensures they are corrosion-proof and ideal for the open-air poolside area, where they were also installed in the Coat of Arms bar.”
Strategic installation for controlled coverage
A key challenge during the installation was preventing sound leakage from the poolside area and pizza bar to the guest rooms overlooking these spaces. To address this, Digital Ear strategically positioned the loudspeakers to maintain a consistent sound pressure level across the venue while ensuring even sound distribution.
The successful deployment of the Void Acoustics system has enabled the hotel to expand its entertainment offering, including pool parties and larger DJ sets that were previously not possible.
