Enter the world of Boomtown
Boomtown, held annually in the picturesque Matterley Bowl within the South Downs National Park, Hampshire UK transcends a typical music festival; it’s an immersive theatrical experience. Now a five-day event, this tranquil valley transforms into a vibrant city with distinct districts, each with its own story, characters, and eclectic blend of music genres.

Innovating festival sound with the Spectrum 360 stage
One of Void and NSL’s standout achievements has been the creation of the Spectrum 360 stage. This in-the-round stage offered a 360-degree audio experience, enveloping Boomtown revellers with sound from every direction.
To achieve this, NSL Productions deployed a 4-point Void Acoustics system, using Stasys Xair subs and the recently released Arclite to create a powerful and evenly distributed sound field. These system stacks were positioned so that at least two stacks always covered the audience in any given area.
“Stasys Xair was the sub of choice for Spectrum 360 as the musical program was kick-drum heavy. And the extra punch afforded by the Stasys X in this range gave us all the headroom we needed. The Arclite was an obvious choice to complement the Stasys stacks, going on top and being more than capable of controlling the vertical dispersion. This helped to keep each stack focused, without crosstalk and slapback when moving around the audience areas.”

Void's sound design ensures great coverage without violating noise pollution conditions, demonstrating a high level of care and precision in production planning.
