The Church, Denver
Void Acoustics serves Denver’s evening congregation
Originally built in 1865 as a place of worship, The Church has become one of Denver’s most iconic nightlife destinations. After serving as a nightclub for more than two decades, the venue required a sound system capable of matching its remarkable architecture with the expectations of a modern club environment.
Working with Pineapple Audio, Void Acoustics delivered a bespoke solution designed to make a bold visual and sonic impact. Months of planning, site surveys, floor plan analysis and acoustic simulations ensured the final system could overcome the challenges of the building’s unique layout while delivering exceptional coverage throughout the venue.
Engineering for an icon
Designing a sound system for a 19th-century church presented a unique set of acoustic challenges. The venue’s vast interior, unusual layout and historic construction demanded extensive planning before installation could begin.
Working closely with Void Acoustics Creative Director Rog Mogale, Pineapple Audio refined the design through several iterations of acoustic modelling to ensure the system would deliver powerful energy with exceptionally even coverage across the dancefloor.
System includes
- Air Array
- Nexus 6
- Xair
- Airten V2
- Stasys 118
- Venu 12 V2

Precision from floor to ceiling
The main dancefloor is centred around twin Air Arrays, forming the primary left and right arrays, with two Nexus 6 fills positioned approximately 38 feet behind the main system to maintain consistent coverage throughout the space.
Low-frequency performance comes from a directional mono bass array constructed within a steel-reinforced concrete enclosure that also serves as the DJ booth. Housing six Xair subwoofers, the design delivers powerful, controlled bass while helping to focus low-frequency energy where it’s needed most.
Two Airten V2 loudspeakers and two Stasys 118 subwoofers provide dedicated DJ monitoring, while two dual clusters of Venu 12 loudspeakers were installed as VIP fills to extend consistent sound beyond the main dancefloor.
Nathan Short, US Technical Lead at Void Acoustics“The preliminary work we put in really paid off, as the simulations showed we could get very strong energy and exceptionally even coverage on the dance floor area. The system is very focused, with a tight, long bass pattern leading to a great sound.”
A new chapter for The Church
The completed installation has given one of Denver’s most recognisable nightclub venues a sound system worthy of its reputation. By combining extensive acoustic planning with a carefully specified Void Acoustics solution, Pineapple Audio has delivered powerful, controlled sound that complements the building’s unique character while meeting the demands of modern club culture.
