Rockwater brings Void Acoustics to the Dorset coastline
Set on Branksome Chine Beach, Rockwater is a contemporary beachfront destination combining wellness, fitness, dining and hospitality on Dorset’s stunning coastline. The latest venture from entrepreneur Luke Davis, the venue required a sound system capable of complementing its elegant interiors while adapting effortlessly from relaxed daytime ambience to vibrant evenings.
Working closely with architects RTSAN and the construction team from the project’s inception, Marquee AV designed and installed a bespoke Void Acoustics system that delivers exceptional sound throughout the venue, from the restaurant and bar to the rooftop terrace.
Hidden in plain sight
Rockwater’s low ceilings presented a unique design challenge. Marquee AV worked closely with RTSAN Architects to minimise the visual impact of the audio system while ensuring consistent, high-quality coverage throughout the venue.
The Venu 8 V2 Series formed the foundation of the installation, complemented by Venu 6 V2 loudspeakers and Venu 208 subwoofers, all finished in discreet black enclosures. Purpose-built housings were developed to seamlessly integrate the subwoofers into the interior while delivering controlled, impactful bass across every space.
Ready for the elements
Beyond the interior spaces, Rockwater’s beachfront terrace required a loudspeaker capable of performing reliably in an exposed coastal environment. IP55-rated Cyclone 4 loudspeakers were specified for the outdoor space, with their weather-protected construction and UV-resilient finish making them ideally suited to year-round use.
Compact and discreet, the Cyclone 4 delivers consistent, high-quality sound across the terrace while complementing the venue’s contemporary aesthetic and uninterrupted coastal views.
From coffee to cocktails
Rockwater needed a versatile sound system with excellent sonics for daytime background music before transitioning into a higher-performance system for evenings and weekends. Powered by Void Acoustics’ highly efficient Bias Q1 and Bias Q2 amplifiers, the installation delivers the flexibility and performance required across the venue’s multiple spaces.
The completed installation is another example of Void Acoustics’ ability to create day-to-night audio systems for multi-purpose hospitality venues, balancing discreet integration with exceptional sound throughout every stage of the guest experience.
