Void Acoustics transforms Kings Cross Hotel into a nightclub destination
Located in the vibrant Kings Cross district of Sydney, Australia, Kings Cross Hotel is a multi-level venue comprising a pub, bistros, sports bar, nightclubs, and event spaces. With a capacity of more than 1,000 guests across six floors, the venue selected Void Acoustics to help transform one of its levels into a dedicated nightclub destination.
The vision was to create a space with exceptional sound quality and striking visual appeal, delivering a memorable experience for guests while achieving true club-grade performance.

From theatre to nightclub
The owners of Kings Cross Hotel set out to transform a former theatre space into a vibrant new nightclub. The goal was to deliver powerful, immersive sound while adhering to strict urban noise restrictions and ensuring complete sound isolation from the rest of the hotel.
A key challenge was achieving strong low and high frequency performance without disturbing hotel guests or neighbouring businesses. As the space had originally been designed as a theatre, it required an entirely new acoustic approach to meet the demands of a nightclub environment.
To overcome these challenges, isolation throughout the system was achieved through precise acoustic design, advanced mounting techniques, and careful structural planning.
A first full Void installation
The project was delivered by integrator Beyond Audio Visual in partnership with Audio Logistics. While Beyond AV had previously worked with Audio Logistics, this marked their first full Void Acoustics system installation.
Recommended for its visual appeal and sound quality, Void Acoustics was selected as the ideal solution for the venue. The final system combines deep, punchy bass from Arcline 118 subwoofers with clear high and mid frequencies from Air Motion loudspeakers, while Venu 12 loudspeakers provide consistent coverage throughout the space.
