Void Experience Thoughts on the Pro Audio Industry

Why a brand’s heritage doesn’t have to define its future in audio, hospitality and design

By Sam Brandon, Managing Director, Void Acoustics

During a recent visit to Medellín, Colombia, for La Feria De Diseño Medellín, I was struck by how much the city had reinvented itself, not by forgetting its past, but by building something meaningful and powerful on top of it.

Medellín has become one of the most important cultural hubs in Latin America, with a growing focus on music, fashion, design and hospitality, without losing sight of its heritage.

There’s a real confidence in what Medellín is becoming, and I think there’s something in that for brands too. You can be known for something and have an established reputation, but that doesn’t mean it’s all you’ll ever be known for.

I see a lot of parallels between this story and our journey at Void Acoustics.

For the past 25 years, we’ve been known as the nightclub guys, a professional audio brand rooted in nightclub and sound system culture, known for doing things differently. And that’s true, but we’ve also built something very different on top of that heritage.

Over the past decade, we’ve become a serious player in the hospitality and architectural audio sectors, providing high-performance sound systems and design-led loudspeakers for spaces where aesthetics matter. Not just hotels, bars and restaurants, but fashion and retail environments, and other creative spaces where sound quality and interior design go hand in hand.

Attending La Feria De Diseño Medellín reinforced something I’ve believed for a long time: professional audio and high-end design can absolutely coexist.

Our nightclub heritage will always be part of who we are, but it doesn’t have to define everything we become. As we continue to grow within the hospitality and design sectors, the focus remains the same: delivering exceptional sound without compromising on aesthetics. For me, that’s what makes the next chapter of Void Acoustics so exciting.
