Red Sky Bar, Glasgow
Void Acoustics brings premium sound to Glasgow’s skyline
Perched on the seventh floor of Radisson Glasgow, Red Sky Bar set out to become a destination venue with a club-quality sound system to match its contemporary design.
General Manager Graham Chalmers envisaged a ‘club sound’ vibe for the rooftop bar. As an electronic music fan already familiar with Void systems, he knew the existing background sound system no longer met the venue’s ambitions. His brief to Lanarkshire-based installer Blue Audio was for “something acoustically special, and much more than you would usually expect of a hotel bar.”
Void Acoustics provided a solution centred around the iconic Airten V3, delivering the sound quality and distinctive design the venue was looking for.

A rooftop destination
The clean, warm sound of the Airten V3 from Void’s flagship Air Series, with its distinctive “jet engine” design, was chosen as the main system loudspeaker because its balanced performance suited the atmosphere the team wanted to create while complementing the venue’s aesthetic.
Outside, the Sky Bar features IP55-rated Cyclone 8 loudspeakers and Cyclone Bass, supported by the Bias Q2 amplifier. Nadar Shahzad from Blue Audio worked closely with the hotel team to deliver the installation while overcoming the challenges of deploying a high-performance system within a hotel environment.

Keeping the hotel quiet
One of the biggest challenges was preventing audio bleed into other areas of the hotel, particularly bass transfer into the guest bedrooms directly beneath the Sky Bar. To reduce vibration and minimise noise leakage, the Venu 115 V2 subwoofers were mounted into the ceiling on custom cradles.
The integration team also took full advantage of the in-built DSP in the Bias Q2 amplifiers, tuning the system to reduce resonant frequencies and minimise noise leakage without compromising the desired club atmosphere.
The Bias amplifier range also provides presets through Armonía software, with FIR (Finite Impulse Response) filters delivering greater clarity and coherence. Zone control, source selection and volume adjustment are also built in, removing the need for additional third-party products.

Beyond the rooftop
The installation demonstrates how Void Acoustics can be used beyond traditional nightclub environments. Recent guest performances have included Hed Kandi, Guilty Pleasures and GBX Experience, while the Sky Bar has also been used for filming projects and product launches.
