Q-Tan Salon turns up the heat with Void Acoustics
Q-Tan is a boutique tanning salon based in the Northeast of England, a region known for its lifestyle establishments and highly competitive market. Recently, the brand completed a stunning refit, overhauling its old décor with a striking, modern aesthetic to match its cutting-edge tanning booths.
The 45m² reception area underwent the most striking changes, with deep hues of blue neon bouncing off its walls to create a club-like vibe in the salon. One of the final touches of the refit was installing a top-tier sound system that matched Q-Tan’s modern look, delivering nightclub-grade sound to match its extravagant new vibe.
Void Acoustics was the obvious choice, thanks to its combination of high-performance audio equipment and sleek visual design. Q-Tan wanted a sound system to define the salon’s ambience, and make the location stand out visually in a sea of bland, often clinical-looking rivals

The salon needed seamless audio coverage from the entrance to the reception area, providing a sense of immersion as customers walked through the door. The installation had to be discreet but powerful, with limited space in the office area for equipment and a high foot traffic area in the reception.
To meet these requirements, Audioserv installed two Airten V3 speakers and a Venu 212 subwoofer in the main reception area. These speakers deliver clear, rich sound that perfectly complements the space’s upgraded visuals. The entrance area was fitted with a pair of Cyclone 55 speakers, with time alignment technology ensuring that customers experience smooth, seamless sound from the moment they step inside.
One of the biggest challenges was the limited space in the office area, but the Void system’s minimalist design worked perfectly. With the entire sound system powered by just one Bias Q2 amplifier, there was no need for an extensive rack space.
More than a tanning salon
At Q-Tan, the system produces more than just background music. The salon invested in a club-level sound system for a reason, to bring the party to its customers. Well-known DJs have performed in Q-Tan’s reception area, and Void Acoustics’ equipment ensures that the audio quality remains top-notch during these special events.
Q-Tan is setting a new standard for tanning salons, proving that great sound can enhance the environment, no matter how unconventional. The system is truly unique and a shining example of Void’s versatility. Since the development of this case study, Q-Tan and Audioserv have collaborated to enhance this installation further, adding in an additional Venu 212 V2 and Bias Q1.
