The Kiosk restaurant is located in a 300-year-old Piarist building shaped by high-rise ceilings and stunning architecture. The building is still home to the remains of an ancient Turkish bath, hidden beneath Kiosk’s kitchen. Operated by Hlatky Schlichter Hubert of M15 Restaurant Kft, the venue is renowned for its ability to host any event, delivering stunning food and drink no matter the occasion. From cocktail parties to corporate get-togethers, Kiosk does it all.
In 2024, Kiosk decided to expand its already existing audio system to its main hall to accommodate the growing variety of events hosted at the venue. With a capacity of 300 people, Kiosk needed an audio system capable of adapting to multiple purposes. To achieve this, Kiosk turned to Void Acoustics and their trusted integrator, Erlatech Kft, for a top-of-the-line solution matching the venue’s visual and acoustic needs.
Tackling the acoustics of a historic building
Kiosk is part of a historical structure, which presents a unique challenge for any development work. As a century-old structure, the venue had minimal acoustic treatment, which is typical for historic buildings. This posed a significant hurdle when delivering clear, even sound throughout the space, especially at higher volumes.
Kiosk had previously worked with Void Acoustics at another venue, Terem, and they were eager to redeploy components from that venue – four Air Motions, Stasys Xairs, and amplifiers – into their current space. However, Kiosk’s unique acoustics required careful placement of the new sound system.
Erlatech’s task was to ensure even sound coverage across the venue, providing rich audio for low-volume background music during dinner service, as well as full-spectrum sound for high-energy events.
From restaurant to multi-purpose venue
Void Acoustics provided the perfect audio solution for Kiosk. With their striking sculptural design, the Air Motion speakers are an immediate visual focal point in the venue, captivating visitors the moment they step inside. But these speakers aren’t just about aesthetics – they deliver exceptional sound clarity and volume throughout Kiosk’s historic space.
To address the acoustic challenges of this untreated venue, to cover different parts of the venue, ensuring even sound distribution. The system provided full sound coverage at all volumes, from subtle background music to the intense, immersive soundscapes required for late-night events.
By integrating Void’s high-performance equipment, Erlatech overcame the difficulties presented by Kiosk’s historic architecture, maintaining speech intelligibility in the bar area even when the system was operating at club-level volumes.
Since the installation, the feedback from both Kiosk’s staff and guests has been overwhelmingly positive. The flexibility of Void’s system has allowed the venue to operate flawlessly as a multi-functional space, offering a unique blend of fine dining and nightlife entertainment.
