Within the cobblestone-lined street is Uncle’s Colombo, a lively bar where people come together every night to relax over drinks, socialise and enjoy entertainment.
This intimate venue regularly hosts live acoustic bands, vinyl nights and disco music sessions. Its eclectic mix of music is one of the reasons why Park Street Mews proudly calls itself “The Street with Many Moods”, and Uncle’s certainly has the audio experience to reinforce that vibe since installing Void Acoustics.
We attract a diverse crowd, and people flock to Uncle’s Colombo every night because of the mix of music we have on. This requires a certain standard of audio equipment which we didn’t have before.”

Digital Ear Pvt Ltd, an integrator specialising in high-end audio and luxury lifestyle products, and Void Acoustics’ exclusive Sri Lankan distributor were the Void partner behind this mindset change.
Gehan explains how Uncle’s Colombo first decided to work with Void: “I initially learned about Void through my brother, who owns a popular nightclub in Colombo. Despite being content with our existing system at the time, Haren, Digital Ear’s Managing Director’s, enthusiasm for Void was persuasive. Ultimately, I decided we should make the switch, and the experience since has been truly amazing. Haren even went to the extent of installing a temporary system until my Void system arrived in Colombo.”
Digital Ear Pvt Ltd has worked with Void for close to five years on previous projects including luxury hotels and rooftop bars. This track record and familiarity with Void’s striking design and exceptional audio capabilities meant Uncle’s Colombo’s Void installation was always in safe hands.
Uncle’s Colombo wanted a high-quality sound that would cope with the limited space available and not overpower customers speaking or the social atmosphere they created through their festivities. The selected speakers also needed to occupy a small physical footprint, which meant the risk of audio crossover.
These limitations led to Void Acoustics’ Venu 10 v2 speakers with a stunning custom bare wood finish and a chic brown grille. The Venu 10 v2s were paired with the Venu 210i subwoofer for an impeccable, deep, rich bass.
A keen Digital Ear for Void Acoustics’ versatility
The Digital Ear team immediately focused on overcoming the venue’s size constraints and tricky speaker placement challenges. The bar’s compactness meant balancing the need for sufficient audio coverage and clarity, which took careful planning and strategic speaker placement for optimal sound distribution and quality.
The results were instantaneous once this puzzle was solved, and the customer experience was elevated to new heights. The bar’s clientele can now speak to each other comfortably, enjoy the bustling atmosphere, revel in live music and ignore any noise outside the bar.
