“The owners, Neon Group Ltd, wanted a loudspeaker system with a prominent design in order to make the club really individual, and one that would be able to easily handle anything from live bands to electronic music. They chose Void above all other possible brands because of this.” Atilla Tompo – Erlatech Stage Ltd.In the heart of Budapest’s party district, under 21 Kazinczy Street, Tesla Budapest opened in the summer of 2014. The 900-capacity exclusive nightclub is set in the former Museum of Electrical Engineering.

Our Hungarian distributor Erlatech Stage Ltd specialises in providing complete solutions for live events and installations ranging from small bars, restaurants and lounges up to large nightclubs using the latest technology and high performance products. Erlatech’s sound and lighting engineer Atilla Tompó designed and installed the new Void Acoustics sound system at Tesla, featuring the very first white Nexus system to be installed globaly.

“The owners, Neon Group Ltd, wanted a loudspeaker system with a prominent design in order to make the club really individual, and one that would be able to easily handle anything from live bands to electronic music. They chose Void above all other possible brands because of this” –The loudspeaker system is divided into three main zones. The two white Nexus 6 loudspeakers are flown and positioned to focus evenly on to the main floor space, with five Stasys 218s providing bass support. Outside of the two vertical columns at right and left, Air Motions provide around 3dB lower sound level for the customers who are drinking in the bar areas, while a total of ten wall mounted Venu 10 passive two-way loudspeakers and a pair of Stasys 218 subs cover all the remaining delayed peripheral areas. The DJ monitors are a pair Airten V2s with two Venu 115 subs.

Tompó called in Eva Arato Borsine and Gergö Borsi of Acoustic Consultants Arato Akusztikai Ltd to design the acoustics for Tesla at an early stage in the construction. “Because we were allowed to design and ultimately influence the acoustics of the room from the beginning as well as specify the loudspeakers, this made for an easy project for us with no particular challenges,” says Tompó. “The cooperation with the technical crew at Tesla was fantastic, and so we completed the install on time and on budget.”

Since the grand opening weekend, the venue has hosted a selection of popular artists and performances from Clark (Warp Records – UK), The/Das (Life and Death – DE), Ott. (Ottsonic.net – UK), Andrey Pushkarev (Deepmix.ru – RU), Gaiser (Minus – DE), and Roska (Rinse FM – UK), providing a thrilling start to this, the third phase of the Tesla evolution.

“The owners are extremely satisfied with the sound quality in all areas. The SPL is high where it needs to be, which creates fantastic energy in the room with plenty of bass frequencies. The Void loudspeaker system is advertised in all their promotional activities, and they are very proud of it. Void’s exclusive design, great sound, high quality and branding speaks for itself.”

The venue has recently been acquired by the same experienced club operator who also own London super club Studio 338 – a massive music and arts venue on the Greenwich Peninsular and sister club ‘The Bridge’ (also in London). The team are familiar with the Void brand and have an excellent working relationship with the Void team. They have consistently chosen Void as their audio system of choice for the last decade, starting with their install at Studio 338, which currently boasts a 4-point Air Motion system covering their large capacity multi-room club including one of the largest outdoor terrace arenas in Europe as well as a Loft Room and VIP level. All sadly out of commission at the moment due to the Covid-19 crisis, however, hopeful of a resurgence in early 2021.
