Sydney’s iconic floating venue Glass Island has re-emerged after a complete renovation, driven by a single, clear ambition: to deliver a premium, design led experience that captivates all the senses. And at the heart of that ambition is sound. For Scott Robertson, Owner of Luxe Cruising Group, the choice was obvious. It had to be Void Acoustics.
Glass Island is a custom built, three level entertainment vessel moored in Sydney Harbour. With a capacity of 470 guests across 780 sqm, it has been purposefully designed to create unforgettable experiences from every angle. The Top Deck offers an open air, Mediterranean inspired beach club framed by 360° harbour views. The Middle Deck channels the vibrancy of Miami pool clubs, centred around a striking 7m mint tiled bar and wraparound glass walls. Below deck, guests discover an intimate cocktail lounge with a moody, relaxed atmosphere. Hosting internationally renowned DJs is part of the venue’s DNA, so the sound system needed to deliver on every level.

Overcoming challenges
Installation at Glass Island was entrusted to Buzz Speaker Hire Pty Ltd, long time collaborators of both Luxe Cruising Group and Void Acoustics. Their task was far from straightforward. Discreetly running cables between the exposed rooftop and the amp racks below, without compromising the clean design lines, was a key challenge.
The results speak for themselves. DJs praise the system for its clarity and punch, while guests consistently comment on the immersive sound. The bold design of the Void speakers does more than complement the venue’s aesthetic; it elevates it, becoming as much a visual centrepiece as an auditory one.
