In June 2025, Chinese trailblazer DJ Sally joined forces with the Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra for a one-of-a-kind concert in Southern Yue’s SYNT Virtual Music Hall. The performance fused electronic beats with the grandeur of a live orchestra, a bold experiment that broke musical boundaries and showcased the versatility of Void Acoustics’ sound systems in China.
Known as Asia’s “Loop Goddess,” DJ Sally has been booming online with her viral live streams at iconic cultural landmarks across China, from the Great Wall to ancestral temples, attracting more than 100 million views worldwide. Ranked in DJ Mag’s Top 3 female DJs in China (2022), she continues to redefine what electronic music can be.
Southern Yue SYNT is China’s first VP&XR virtual music hall, complete with a 200m² 360° LED ice screen and XR rendering engine. This immersive space transformed the concert into a multi-sensory spectacle, with holographic visuals, dynamic architecture and reactive art complementing every note.
For the sound, organisers turned to Void Acoustics, internationally renowned for delivering both sonic excellence and striking visual design. In a venue where Dolby Atmos spatial audio was integrated into the orchestral performance, the Void system had to work seamlessly across both classical and electronic soundscapes.
The Void solution
Real Music Acoustics & Lighting Technology, Void’s distribution partner in China, supplied and installed the system.
The setup included:
- Air Motion loudspeakers – delivering power and clarity optimised for electronic music, with their iconic sculptural form complementing the venue’s futuristic design.
- Airten V3 DJ monitors – ensuring warmth, precision, and comfort for Sally’s four-deck mixing style.
- Stasys XAir subwoofers – adding deep, controlled low frequencies to match the grandeur of the orchestra and the intensity of electronic drops.
This carefully configured system allowed for fast deployment and precise tuning, perfectly balancing the delicate textures of violins with the energy of trance and techno beats.
At DJ Sally’s event, Air Motion, Airten, and Stasys XAir were deployed. Void first caught the attention of Sally’s team with its uniquely stunning appearance, but the sound performance was even more amazing. From a technical perspective, Void’s products are designed extremely thoroughly with flexible installation methods. The product line is very rich, allowing customers to choose what’s right for different occasions. It took only three of us three hours from unloading to installation and tuning the whole system. That efficiency is all thanks to Void’s thoughtful design, easy installation, and precise alignment.
The concert also featured a surprise guest appearance from cultural heritage artist Issue Wong, whose handpan performance added to the fusion of styles. The project enabled Void to showcase its unique ability to straddle club culture and high-art spaces, setting a bold new benchmark for live sound in China.
