Balearic Dreaming for Void Acoustics
Ten years of O'Beach
One of the most iconic daytime venues on the White Isle of Ibiza is planning some incredible celebrations for its 10th Birthday in 2022, and in advance of the anticipated partying in honour of its first decade, Void Acoustics have been reflecting on the brand’s long-standing relationship with O'Beach Ibiza.
Previously known as Ocean Beach Ibiza, the day venue opened its doors to party-going tourists in 2012 with an extravagant and luxurious poolside setting on the S’Arenal waterfront in San Antonio with ocean views overlooking the west side of the island.
With an important emphasis on the music selection and soundtrack at O Beach Ibiza, the club has been a Void venue since its launch.
“From the day we opened in June 2012, we have had a Void Acoustics system installed”, explains Gemma Charters, Director of Brand and Events at O Beach Ibiza. “The audio delivery from Void Acoustics was perfect for us then (as it is now) and the aesthetics of the speakers suited the venue so well with them becoming an instantly recognisable and iconic part of our venue.”

The owner-operators of O Beach include Ibiza mogul Tony Truman, and Wayne Lineker and the club has built its reputation over the past decade as the ultimate pool party venue. And part of this reputation has been built upon the quality sound produced by the audio system which is something the owners applaud.
The initial Void installation ten years ago included Air Motions, Airtens and Indigos and whilst the club has gone through various iterations, enhancements and developments over the past decade (including the more contemporary name change), the Void system has remained integral to the club’s design and reputation. The venue currently boasts an extensive Void system including Viper Subwoofer bass bins; a number of flagship Void speakers the Air Motion; as well as almost twenty Airtens, much favoured by high-end clubs around the world.
“The ethos of the club has always been to focus on the quality of the music by hand picking resident DJs that completely understand our venue, our brand and our clientele,” expands Gemma. “The unique and fun concepts of our now world-famous entertainment shows and aerial acrobatics are enhanced by the venue and its aesthetics. And so the premium quality audio experience, together with the unique look of Void speakers was something which secured our decision. Being able to have the speakers’ fibreglass customised in our club colour means they are instantly recognisable and fit within the magic of the venue perfectly!”

Since the initial installation, additional enhancements have been made to the sound system, still keeping the Void system intact. “As an outdoor venue we have to be extremely sensitive towards our neighbours, and reduce any noise pollution, and so we have added more speakers recently in order to bring the sound closer to our guests wherever they are around the venue – by the pool, on the VIP terrace overlooking the ocean, or on one of the VIP day beds. In fact, the overall volume and quality of the sound has been enhanced from a coverage point of view than its original spec.”
“We’ve also undertaken a recent restoration of the Void kit, and a replacement of all the drivers, so the system really does sound as perfect as ever!” smiles Gemma.
The past two summer seasons have been far removed from the fantastic parties that O Beach Ibiza are celebrated for. “It’s been a logistical challenge with the pandemic, managing various government regulations, all of which came on top of the Brexit issues we were already facing,” sighs Gemma. “But we have worked tirelessly to adapt our business model to provide a safe venue for guests and staff, whilst maintaining our venue as a place for guests to make great memories.”
Fingers crossed for all the team at O Beach Ibiza that they will have gained normality next summer in time for their very special celebrations in 2022.
