Void Acoustics elevates HPE’s new headquarters in Texas
If you’ve ever used a computer, chances are you know Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). In 2020, the multinational IT company began work on its new state-of-the-art headquarters in Spring, Texas. Construction of the campus took place over the next two years, spanning two five-storey buildings and 440,000 square feet of rentable space.
Today, HPE’s new headquarters is a high-tech hub for visitors and more than 2,200 team members. i.e. Smart Systems was tasked with creating an interactive and immersive environment that showcases HPE’s industry-leading capabilities while delivering a unique and memorable experience. The result is a striking campus that visually reinforces HPE’s position as a global technology leader. Void Acoustics extends that experience acoustically.

Creating an experience-driven outdoor environment
Void Acoustics sound systems are installed throughout the dynamic outdoor areas of the campus, including a central courtyard featuring a popular sports bar, a basketball pavilion, and a 100ft x 40ft multi-use screen.
Designed and constructed during COVID, HPE wanted hybrid working embedded into the foundations of its new headquarters, creating an environment that supports collaboration, creativity, and communication. The campus includes more than 70 meeting rooms and flexible workspaces, alongside wellness facilities such as a fitness centre, pharmacy, doctor’s office, and cafeteria staffed by in-house executive chefs.
HPE’s focus on creating a positive environment extends beyond the buildings themselves. The outdoor spaces were designed to transition seamlessly from relaxed social settings to large-scale event venues. Powered by Void Acoustics, these areas support a wide range of activities, from games on the basketball court to gaming tournaments and events hosted at the sports bar.
When outlining the brief for the outdoor spaces, i.e. Smart Systems knew HPE required sound at scale capable of cutting through the activity of a busy campus. Void Acoustics was the answer.
Impressed by the performance and design of Void loudspeakers they had encountered at a local restaurant in Houston, i.e. Smart Systems recommended Void to HPE. The audio quality exceeded expectations while complementing the modern aesthetic of the headquarters.
“The Void Acoustics’ system sounds exceptional, the subwoofers are amazing! When we were doing initial sound checks, we turned the sound up to the max, and you could hear it a mile away. It was so loud that the ground was shaking. I’d heard Void speakers before, but not in an outdoor space. I was very impressed with the sound when we did the outdoor test.”
