Void Acoustics makes waves in Australia
URBNSURF Sydney is one of Australia’s newest and most ambitious surf parks – a multi-zone lifestyle destination combining wave pools and high-end hospitality.
At the heart of the venue is RAFI Dining, a rooftop restaurant with sweeping views of the wave basin, as well as Sandy’s Café, multiple private function rooms and open-air terraces.
Buzz Speaker Hire was brought onboard to deliver a powerful sound system that would shine bright next to Sydney’s showstopping beaches.

A multi-zone deployment
Buzz Speaker Hire was brought in early to deliver a high-quality audio system tailored to URBNSURF’s multiple functions, after previously working with owners Applejack Hospitality Group on a Void installation at another venue.
URBNSURF wanted full-bodied sound to complement the venue’s sleek aesthetic, while providing intuitive, user-friendly control. Void Acoustics’ speakers were chosen for the clean white finish, rich sound profile and long history of successful installations.
The system installation covered all key areas across URBNSURF, including: RAFI Dining, Sandy’s Café, three private function rooms, terraces, hallways and bathrooms.
The project used a mix of Venu 6 V2 and Venu 8 V2 speakers, paired with Venu 112 V2 subwoofers and Bias Q2+ and Q1.5+ amplifiers for robust and reliable power. In-ceiling subwoofers and wall-mounted controllers helped simplify the multi-zone install, with precise DSP tuning for each area.

For venue owners Hamish Watts and Ben Carroll, Co-founders of Applejack Hospitality, the decision to use Void Acoustics at URBNSURF was an easy one. “We were happy with the previous install at our other venue and loved the sound and aesthetic,” says Hamish. “At URBNSURF, the speakers blend beautifully with the venue, with our guests often praising the atmosphere here – that says it all.”
Since its opening, the Void system has received widespread praise from guests, event clients, and DJs alike. The smooth, immersive audio profile complements the beachy, laid-back environment while offering enough punch for parties and functions.
With the surf park quickly becoming one of Sydney’s most exciting new destinations, the Void Acoustics system ensures that great sound remains an essential part of the journey.
