Void Acoustics powers immersive art installation
Void Acoustics partnered with award winning art designers This is Loop to deliver immersive audio for ‘Emergence’, a large scale audio visual sculpture that combines architectural design, light, and sound into a fully interactive public experience.
The relationship began with the debut of ‘Emergence’, which went on to win a LIT Lighting Award in the Light Art category and was later shortlisted for a prestigious CODAaward, recognising projects that successfully integrate art into public and architectural spaces.

Created by artist and architect Alan Hayes, co founder of This is Loop, ‘Emergence’ was designed as a fully immersive installation where audio formed an essential part of the experience rather than a separate technical element.
Displayed primarily in outdoor environments, the sculpture required a sound solution capable of delivering exceptional audio quality while integrating seamlessly into the artwork itself. Void Acoustics’ weather protected Cyclone 55 loudspeakers were selected for their combination of sonic performance, IP55 rated durability, and distinctive sculptural design.
Having spent many years working within the events industry, Hayes was already familiar with Void Acoustics and viewed the brand as one of the few manufacturers capable of combining premium sound quality with strong visual identity.
An immersive architectural experience
The structure itself consists of seventy five mirrored nodes arranged within an 11 foot tall, 30 foot diameter cylindrical pavilion. Choreographed light sequences and visual illusions interact with a custom audio composition to create a constantly evolving sensory experience for visitors.
Within this environment, the Cyclone 55 loudspeakers became an integrated part of the sculpture, complementing the installation’s futuristic aesthetic while delivering clear and immersive sound throughout the space.
The system has since been deployed across multiple installations and public events, consistently delivering reliable performance in demanding outdoor conditions.
