Void Loudspeaker system at LIT Station

Lit Station, one of the most recent acquisitions to the portfolio of hotel management company, Noah Ark (Fujian) Hotel Investment & Management, has been designed to host some of the best DJ and EDM nights in China. An ambitious brief, then, considering the growing standard of clubs that have opened around the country as dance music culture takes a hold. To provide the club with a cutting edge, a Void Acoustics system has been installed to cover the dancefloor of Lit Station.

With headquarters in Fuzhou City, Fujian Province Noah Ark manages around 20 hotels across China, including in Fuzhou, Xiamen, Wuhan, Nanchang, Chengdu and Tianjin. A total investment of more than 50 million RMB went into Lit Station, which covers an area of 2,300 square metres, with a 15 metre-high ceiling. This cavernous space provides the city’s clubbers with a new party venue, enhanced with state-of-the-art GTD lighting rig and a fully integrated Void Acoustics sound system supplied by local distributor, Budee, which has represented Void for two years, installing systems into seven clubs in China and Hong Kong to date.

The Budee technical team worked closely with system integrator Guangzhou Yicheng Technology Co, with audio engineer Seth Lee from Budee dealer, Guangzhou Yicheng Technology Co, carrying out system tuning.

The main dance floor system consists of a pair of Void Incubus Air Array mid-high elements in red, together with four black Hyperfold upper bass speakers and four black Incubus Sub subwoofers, each featuring three 21-inch transducers in a hybrid horn bandpass enclosure. A delay system of four of Void’s iconic red Air Motion three-way biamped speaker arrays cover the rear left and right sides of the dancefloor, together with six Stasys 218 dual 18-inch subwoofers to extend the sound coverage to every corner of the main space. The systems are powered by Bias Q2, Q5 and V9 amplifiers.

For Guangzhou Yicheng Technology, the biggest challenge was not to overload clubbers directly in front of the Incubus system with high SPLs. ‘We needed to ensure that they could enjoy the music and dance in this area without complaining about the loudness of the sound, while also ensuring that the sound system could cover the rear part of the dance floor towards the back of the club,’ says Budee sound engineer, Chris Meng.

While the focus of the 1,000-capacity club is to provide the city with the latest venue for partying the night away, Lit Station can also be hired for other events including press launches, opening ceremonies and private parties.

Since opening, Lit Station has received many plaudits from clubbers who’ve expressed their appreciation for the sound and lighting systems, remarking upon the distinctive look of the Void speakers.
