Originally a music pavilion built in 1883 on the Traun River, Sissikuss took over the space in 2017, breathing new life into the beautiful structure. Owners Katharina Wimmer and Kurt Weglehner have curated an experience that brings together the traditions of the region with a modern twist.
Sissikuss’ customers are young creatives looking for a space that can offer all-day entertainment. During the busy summer months, Sissikuss welcomes several hundred people through its doors each week. With a distinctive aesthetic, Sissikuss had the potential to host evening events but needed a clever concept to make the compact retail space multi-purpose without compromising on design or customer experience.
Katharina started looking into making this a reality. Wanting to make the most of its tiny footprint and give a nod to its past, the venue cleverly transforms from day to night, with the point-of-sale area converting into a dance floor and performance area for DJs and musicians. This unique concept called for a sound system that could seamlessly adapt to both daytime shopping and night-time revelry.
Drinks to dancefloor, with a sound system that can do both
The biggest challenge for Sissikuss was finding a sound system that ticked all the boxes. It needed to be visually appealing to complement the store's aesthetic whilst also providing multi-use functionality in a compact design. Working with Musikuss Tonkultur, Void Acoustics' primary dealer and installer in Austria, Sissikuss found the perfect solution.
Musikuss Tonkultur suggested two custom gold Indigo Pro speakers, perfectly complementing the shop's design and historic elements. A single, powerful Venu 208 subwoofer is discreetly installed in the base of the point of sale unit for a seamless transition from café to club. Combined with the lightweight and compact Bias Q1 amplifier, the Void setup ensures crisp, clear audio for background music during the day, transforming into an atmospheric party venue when the lights go down.
